The Pixiu is one of the dragon’s nine sons; in ancient times, the single-horned Pixiu was called ‘Tian Lu’ (lit., ‘heaven-bestowed official salary’), while the double-horned Pixiu was known as ‘Bi Xie’ (lit., ‘ward off evil’). As a descendant of the dragon, the Pixiu’s noble status represents heavenly favor, a smooth official career, successful endeavors, and generational prosperity.

This Sun Wukong tea pet is somewhat different from the Monkey King we are familiar with. He is not waving his golden staff in battle, but is quietly meditating and practicing, as if he is realizing the truth. This prompts us to consider why he is named "Wukong" (lit. 'meditating on emptiness' or 'realizing enlightenment on emptiness') when he has such great power?

The name Wukong was given by Bodhi Patriarch, symbolizing the perception of "emptiness".
