  • Exquisite Carved Bamboo Brush Pot

    Material: Bamboo

    Dimensions: Inner diameter 11 x 13 cm (±3%)

Approx. 250–300 Years Old / Mid to Late Qing Dynasty (18th–19th Century)

This brush pot is meticulously carved from a single section of bamboo, its surface displaying a warm reddish-brown patina acquired over centuries. The design harmoniously integrates poetry, calligraphy, and painting, reflecting the literati ideal of “the Three Perfections.” One side bears a poem finely incised in running script, while the other features a deeply carved landscape scene with figures amid mountains and pines—an elegant fusion of artistic refinement and scholarly spirit.

The landscape carving presents layered mountains, dense pines, and a secluded pavilion shrouded in mist, perfectly echoing the poetic inscription. The carving is fluid and richly detailed, characterized by rhythmic lines and balanced composition, representative of the literati bamboo-carving style of the late Qing period.

Closely resembling the works of renowned mid-Qing bamboo carvers, this piece exemplifies the refined literati brush pot—a classic scholar’s studio object that unites utility and artistry. Combining poetry, calligraphy, and painting, it embodies both aesthetic grace and cultural depth, standing as a rare masterpiece of Qing dynasty bamboo craftsmanship.

  • Ming dynasty Longquan celadon tripod censer

    Material: Porcelain

    Dimensions: H21 x D24.5cm (±3%)

The Longquan kilns, located in Longquan, Zhejiang Province, are among the most renowned producers of celadon in Chinese history. Their wares are celebrated for their jade-like texture and gentle bluish-green glaze, representing the refined craftsmanship of Ming dynasty celadon.

The tripod censer is a common form, typically with a round body, flat rim, or constricted neck, supported by three outward-curving or column-shaped legs, sometimes with upturned “cloud” handles. Such censers were used in religious and ritual contexts, as well as for scholarly and imperial display.

Characteristic features of Ming Longquan celadon include a soft greenish-blue glaze of rich, lustrous quality, with natural crackle patterns and an unglazed footring revealing grayish clay.

This piece also bears traces of ancient repair using the traditional “juzi” (metal staple) technique. These small U-shaped metal clamps were used to mend cracks in ceramics—a testament to the skill and resourcefulness of craftsmen in antiquity.

It is said that this Ming dynasty Longquan celadon tripod censer has been compassionately blessed by Grandmaster JinBodhi. Those who are fortunate to invite it into their home may enjoy purity and fragrance, prosperity for descendants, longevity, virtue, and auspicious enlightenment.
