The Earth Store Bodhisattva's Vow Sutra is a scripture which is a record of Sakyamuni Buddha’s teachings to his mother in Trayastrimsa Heaven. According to the scriptures, before Earth Store Bodhisattva attained enlightenment, he tried to save his suffering mother in hell many times, and he made compassionate vows over the course of many lifetimes. He also did boundless good deeds to help all sentient beings with his great power after he attained enlightenment.
Buddha said that in future generations, those who make offerings to Earth Store Bodhisattva and listen to or recite the Earth Store Bodhisattva’s Vow Sutra will gain 28 unbelievable merits and benefits:
Heavenly Dragons’ protection; Daily increasing good karma; Gathering supreme causes of sages; Not regress from Bodhi;
Living in abundance; No sickness; No disaster of fire or water; No robbery;
Be respected; Receive help from deities; Transform from female to male; Be a daughter of royalty;
Having good appearance; Reborn in Heaven; May become a king; Know of past lives;
Attaining whatever they seek; Harmonious family; All misfortunes eliminated; All bad karma eradicated;
Going everywhere without obstacles; Having peaceful and happy dreams; Deceased relatives leave suffering behind; Enjoy blessings earned in previous lives;
Praised by sages; Smart and sharp; Compassionate and forgiving; Attain Buddhahood ultimately.
